Size Standards Raised: A Victory for Circle

March 2012—McLean, VA. After an intensive review of existing size standards under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has issued a rule that increases these standards in 34 industries and 37 subindustries under Sector 54, Professional, Technical, and Scientific Services. Effective March 12, 2012, the rule makes it possible for many companies that had outgrown the $7 million size standard under their associated NAICS codes to compete for small business set-aside work under the new $14 million size standard. Circle Cares About Your Heart

February 2012—McLean, VA. February is American Heart Month and Circle demonstrated its awareness on February 3 with a company-wide "Wear Red" day. Dozens of staff members donned red clothing, ribbons, and pins in recognition of the fact that heart disease kills more American women each year than all forms of cancer combined. Read more

Partnership Results in Innovative Training to Address Biased Policing

January 2012—McLean, VA. For the first time, a training program applies the science of human bias to help law enforcement agencies address the very sensitive and difficult issue of biased policing. In partnership with Dr. Lorie Fridell of the University of South Florida and a renowned team of social psychologists, Circle's Research and Knowledge Management Services team developed the Fair and Impartial Policing (FIP) Training Program. The program includes separate trainings for three distinct audiences: academy recruits/patrol officers, first-line supervisors, and law enforcement trainers. Read more


Circle's Season of Giving

December 2011—McLean, VA. In a season that conjures in our minds images of giving and receiving gifts, family and food, the comforts of home, and the laughter of children, Circle's staff once again demonstrated their personal commitment to serving others this year. During the months of November and December, Circle's staff coordinated four charitable efforts to make it possible for children and families in our back yard and nationwide, as well as troops serving overseas, to share in the joy of the holidays. Circle Celebrates New Leadership

December 2011—McLean, VA. Circle Solutions, Inc. (Circle) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kristina M. Lewis as President and Chair of the Board of Directors effective December 20, 2011. Kristina succeeds former President, Caroline Y. Watler, after her recent retirement from a successful 27-year career at Circle. Read more


Circle Wishes a Warm Farewell to President

November 2011—McLean, VA. Circle Solutions, Inc. (Circle) announced that Caroline Y. Watler, President and Chair of the Board of Directors, will retire on December 20, 2011. Circle also announced that Kristina M. Lewis, currently Circle's Executive Vice President, will succeed Caroline as President and Chair of the Board of Directors during an official transition on December 20. Read more


NIH Taps Circle Once Again for Conference Planning Expertise

November 2011—McLean, VA. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has named Circle Solutions, Inc. (Circle) among the highly qualified contractors that have received awards under the NIH Conference and Administrative Travel Services (NIHCATS II) contract. NIHCATS II, a multiple-award, indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle with a ceiling of nearly $116 million over 5 years, enables NIH and all other Government agencies to issue task orders for a variety of domestic and international meeting and travel logistics and ancillary services. Circle Honored Among Criminology Researchers on National Stage

November 2011—McLean, VA. The American Society of Criminology (ACS) invited Circle Solutions, Inc. (Circle) to present at its annual meeting. The presentation focused on the success of the Secure Our Schools program, assessed through an evaluation that was funded by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community Policing Services (COPS) and managed by Circle. Pink Debuts at Circle in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness

October 2011—McLean, VA. Circle Solutions, Inc.'s (Circle's) staff members helped raise awareness by wearing their finest pink clothing and pink ribbons in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They honored the memories of those taken by breast cancer, recognized the disease's devastating effects on millions of lives, celebrated the victories of the survivors, and acknowledged the importance of regular checks to maintain breast health. Circle Celebrates 31 Years!

October 2011—McLean, VA. More than 130 staff members proudly gathered for an early morning celebration to commemorate Circle Solutions, Inc.'s (Circle's) 31st anniversary. Founded in 1980 to place health professionals in medically underserved areas, Circle has grown into a leading manager of Federal health information centers and clearinghouses and provider of comprehensive services including outreach and promotion, communications and publication development, conference and event management, research and knowledge management, information technology, project management, and warehousing and distribution. Office of Justice Programs Chooses Circle Again for Conference Services

September 2011—McLean, VA. Continuing its history of providing outstanding service to the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Circle Solutions, Inc. (Circle) will provide complete planning and management services for several conferences that will be held around the country. Circle's Certified Meeting Professionals (CMPs) have provided logistical management and support for numerous recent OJP meetings, including events for the National Institute of Justice and three consecutive national conferences for the Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART). April 2011—McLean, VA. July 2011—McLean, VA. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has recognized Circle Solutions, Inc. (Circle) once again for outstanding achievements in communication. With a history of providing precision writing services for our NIH clients, Circle's science writers received three 2011 Plain Language/Clear Communication, Awards including one Gold Award and two Bronze Awards. Circle Remains Dedicated to Reducing Risk of SIDS

June 2011—McLean, VA. Circle Solutions, Inc. (Circle) continues to make educating the public and health practitioners about preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)—a cause to which Circle has remained dedicated for a quarter of a century—a high priority. As part of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development's (NICHD)'s Back to Sleep Campaign, Circle staff members collaborated with a number of other organizations to create the "Continuing Education Program on SIDS Risk Reduction: Curriculum for Nurses." Circle's Next Generation Goes to Work...for 1 Day

April 2011—McLean, VA. For one special day in April, staff members in the halls at Circle Solutions, Inc. (Circle) caught a rare glimpse of the future. A dozen "junior professionals," aged 7 to 18, participated in Circle's Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day program, which was carefully organized with their needs and interests in mind. Fostering Community Collaboration for Safer Communities

February 2011—McLean, VA. The U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) recently published the Collaboration Toolkit for Community Organizations. Authored by Circle's Research Project Deputy Director, the Toolkit details the process of building and sustaining effective partnerships with law enforcement agencies and provides a step–by–step guide to engaging police in collaboratively addressing community–based crime and disorder problems. This product represents Circle's continued commitment to action research and the dissemination of knowledge that supports healthier and safer communities. Read more


Tools for Organizational Improvement of Youth Programs

January 2011—McLean, VA. Circle's Research Project Deputy Director recently authored the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) publication titled A New Approach to Evaluation—A Guide to Improving Your Program. The framework of this publication is based on 7 years of work evaluating social service programs, including COPS school safety programs. Read more


In the Community: Circle Feeds Alternative House

December 2010—McLean, VA. In November, Circle demonstrated its commitment to healthier and safer people and communities with its annual food drive for Alternative House, a local nonprofit organization supporting children and families. Alternative House began as a temporary shelter for runaway teenagers and has grown to also provide counseling and crisis intervention for homeless youth, assistance to young mothers, and community outreach services. Circle Once Again the SMART Choice

October, 2010—McLean, VA. The Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) Office recently awarded Circle a task order for logistical support for SMART's 2012 National Workshop and Symposium with approximately 800 participants. This is the fourth year in a row SMART has chosen Circle to manage its conference-planning activities. Read more
